However the report also starkly illustrates that progress on clean energy technology deployment, including for CCS, is far from where it needs to be – a situation the IEA describes as “bleak”. Nothing less than a “radical change of course” is required, according to the IEA.

Energy Technology Perspectives (ETP) 2014 was released on 12 May. It provides a comprehensive, long-term analysis of trends in the energy sector - and of the technologies that are essential to achieving an affordable, secure and low-carbon system. In addition, it contains a ‘report card’ on the status of global technology efforts to meet long term targets.
